Maysen Forbes completed the Ireland Way on 30 October 2017. As she walked, Maysen discussed her experience with mental health issues and raised over €2,000 for Mental Health Ireland. Well done Maysen!
Blog: IntoTheWildish Donate: EveryDayHero Corinne (second from the left) has come all the way from the States to walk this challenging trail. On Saturday 14th of May a group of five set off from Castletownbere, hiking through the Caha Mountains. It was an amazing day with amazing weather. Corinne is documenting her journey every day via her blog (although it is a little behind at the moment!). Follow her on her adventure as she explores the Irish countryside or if you are feeling adventurous yourself, join her for a day or two of walking!
Today she is resting her tired feet in Ballyvourney, and tomorrow (Saturday 21st May) she will walk to Newmarket with an Irish walker named Kathleen. Email caroline@theirelandway.ie if you would like to walk with Corinne or join her for dinner as she is passing through your town!
Corinne has come all the way from the United States to walk the Ireland Way. She has her own blog where she is documenting her time in Ireland. From Saturday 24th you can follow her on her Ireland Way journey with her tent and stuffed animal sloth named Maurice!
The Arcadia is an iconic building in Portrush, County Antrim (Section 20 of The Ireland Way). Built in the 1920's it was originally a café but from 1953 became an entertainment venue with a popular ballroom. Now it is a café again so you can go inside and have a look and enjoy a coffee or breakfast before you set off for the day!
Today www.theirelandway.ie has turned from a blog into an official website for The Ireland Way hiking trail! I have been looking forward to this moment for months!
I am grateful for the support I have received on Instagram and Facebook whilst on my 840km journey through Ireland and especially my hiking buddies (Ali, Fiachra, Anna and Francesco) for keeping me company along the way! What am I up to now? I am currently working on putting together a book of the maps for the trail for both walkers and cyclists to use. My cat is my buddy for this and she is regularly trying to squeeze herself between me and my laptop! The first photo has a motte in the background and over the steps was a field of cows. Luckily I noticed a bull in the field and was extra cautious, using the field beside it instead! You can never be too careful! Greenfield forest was very nice. It was rugged/overgrown and natural rather than pruned and well-maintained like some of the more popular forests.
A sunny day in Tipperary town. Below is the Maid of Erin statue. (I've an interview in Dublin so am taking a few days off the trail and making some additions to the website for the people who are interested in doing the trail). |
